About StomaphyX

Gastric bypass has an eighty five to ninety percent success rate. This means that patients keep off at least half of their excess weight for the rest of their lives. Those who regain a substantial amount of weight are candidates for a further reduction in the size of their remaining stomach or pouch. This procedure, which is called StomaphyX, is done by reefing the lining of the stomach with stitches, thereby shrinking the stomach. The procedure is safe and is done through the mouth without an incision.

A patient can expect to lose approximately 20 pounds over a two month period after surgery. To ensure optimum results, we require that these patients see a dietician before and after the procedure.
