Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS)

Single Site Laparoscopy (SSL), also known as Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), is a procedure where the entire operation is performed through a single incision in the Umbilicus (Belly Button). The advantage of this procedure is that it leaves no visible scars. Dr. Diehl was the first to perform Single Site Laparoscopy at Morristown Memorial Hospital and has used it for appendectomies, colectomies, gallbladder removal and other surgeries.

Not all patients are candidates for this type of surgery and it carries some potential risks that other types of laparoscopic surgery do not have. Dr. Diehl evaluates each patient individually.
