Leah S. Gendler, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Gendler graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1999. She completed her surgical internship and residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in 2003 and became Administrative Chief Resident in 2003.
During her residency, Dr. Gendler received several awards, including the Senior Surgical Resident Academic Achievement Award, the Leon Ginzburg Achievement Award from Beth Israel Medical Center and the Most Outstanding Scientific Presentation from the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
As a general surgeon with specialty training in breast surgery, Dr. Gendler is proficient in the most advanced screening, diagnostic and therapeutic techniques available, including breast preservation and sentinel node mapping technology. She also has extensive expertise in advanced laparoscopic procedures, including colon surgery, splenectomies and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Gendler is a member of a variety of medical organizations, including the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Diseases, the Association of Women Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
She has been performing research in her field for over 15 years. She has authored numerous publications concerning breast cancer and frequently speaks at conferences on the topic. She previously served as Clinical Instructor during a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center, New York.
She is fluent in English and Spanish.
